Bergen's identity has evolved from a traditional port city to a center of innovation, with industries such as aquaculture, shipping, and oil-related technology playing crucial roles. The use of wool in my works aligns with Norway's commitment to sustainability, as natural materials are increasingly valued in contemporary art and design. The metal netting represents modernity, while the wool evokes memories of the past, creating a balance that reflects the city's pursuit of sustainable growth.
The semi-transparent quality of the metal netting allows these sculptures to merge with their surroundings while maintaining a unique presence. This reflects the coexistence and mutual enrichment of different regional cultures, as well as the interaction between human-made and natural elements, showcasing Bergen's journey in combining traditional crafts with new approaches.
